Population density is low, at 4.7 inhabitants per square kilometer.Each year the MICC submits its annual report to the Quebec National Assembly outlining the number of immigrants to be admitted to the province in the following year. For 2011, the target is 45000 immigrants in the skilled sector.From 2002 to 2006, about 80.2% of the immigrants to Quebec settled in theGreater Montreal area. Presently, about 30% of the residents of Montreal were foreign born.
