Excellence in chromatic Santoor Vadan in any scale has justly earned Rohan Krishan RataN name, fame and Kudos at his budding prime. He is a young scale changer Santoor player to play the instrument in such a way which produces various moods of same Ragas or Songs.

He is capable of playing the santoor with eyes closed and even after covering the string of the santoor with a fabric. He has the ability to play the santoor sitting on the opposite side rare feat indeed. His rendition of cine songs on santoor touches the heart of the listener. Rohan stood first in the All India Music competition {age Group} conducted by Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad. Honble Governor of Bihar Dr. A.R. Kidwai awarded him the State Honour Award. He stood first in the state level music competition conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Acadamy, besides being awarded the Kala Shree and Udaiman Pratibha Shruti Puraskar at the tender age of 10. Recently Rohan was conferred the upadhi Sur Mani in classical music from Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai at the age of 19. He awarded scholarship from CCRT, New Delhi. Ministers and Organizations have also honoured Rohan with appreciation Letters and awards.

Many leading newspapers have published his outstanding talents. Nav Bharat Times headlined an edition with a distinguished caption Kam Umra Ustad when Rohan was only seven. He passed the general audition of CMA with A grade & All India Radio with B High Grade and performed in concert programme conducted by AIR.He also performed in Doordarshan in Patna, Lucknow, New Delhi and Bangalore. He has performed alongside world famous artists Bhajan Samrat Anup Jalota, Gazal Singer Jagjit Singh, Ghulam Ali, cine playback singers Suresh Wadkar, UshaMangeshkar. The great Music Maestro Late Naushad has appreciated his talents. Rohan has played the santoor for the back ground music adopted in tele serials and cine songs.

Besides performing in India he has carved a niche for himself with performances in France     { Paris, Marseille, Cannes, Lyon, nice, Claymont }  Switzerland,  Holland, {Netherlands},  Belgium,  Austria,  Qatar,  Israel,  Kuwait,  Oman , Germany, Mauritius. Rohan%u2019s God-given talent, hard work and love for the art has promoted his delectable renditions of difficult Ragas in different taals like Maru Bihag, Mishra Shivranjani, Basant Bahar, Kirvani etc.

Rohan was instructed in music by renowned Gurus like Shri Rana Muzumdar, Shri Naresh Kr. Sinha, Shri Siddhanath Mishra and Shri Bale Khan. His early training and inspiration are founded in the inherent talent of his father Prakash Khatry who besides being knowledgeable in Ragas, is an experienced musician himself and has a Bhashkar degree in Tabla.

At present Rohan is pursuing his ambition to attain better perfection under the advanced guidance of Padam Vibhushan  Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Mumbai.
