Essential Job Functions
+ Prepares local, state, and federal tax returns to meet business needs; ensures compliance with governmental tax laws.
+ Prepares and analyzes tax records and reports to meet business needs; ensures records are current and accurate.
+ Prepares for tax refunds; researches inquiries from government agencies regarding filings, compliance, and other claims.
+ Prepares statistical and financial reports to provide management with information on financial accounts.
+ Maintains appropriate tax records for historical purposes; prepares tax studies and assignments.
+ Utilizes computer to input, retrieve, or display tax information to keep records current and standardized.
+ Reviews proposals for tax implications; recommends actions that meet business plans and manage tax liability.
+ Assists in tax audits. May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
+ Five or more years of experience in tax accounting or finance
+ Experience working with tax laws
+ Experience working with tax forms and processing
+ Experience working with accounting principles and accounting software and databases
+ Experience working with auditing and generally accepted accounting principles
+ Good analytical and problem solving skills
+ Good editing skills in order to review legal documents
+ Planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work
+ Personal computer and business solutions software skills
+ Communication skills for providing documentation to support personnel, customers, and managers
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
