Six months ago I got very serious about losing weight. This time I was going to do it right, and I was determined not to fail like the previous times that I tried to cut the pounds.
What started all of this in the first place?
Eighteen months earlier, my doctor called and informed me that my triglyceride levels were over 300, 100 is supposed to be normal. She told me that if I did not start doing something about it, I would be a diabetic by the time I was 30. That was pretty much all I needed to hear.
Round 1
I launched into a diet and light exercise campaign. It worked temporarily. I lost 10 pounds in 3 months, and dropped my triglyceride levels to around 220. There was one gigantic problem: I did not feel well. I was tired all the time, and just plainly, I did not feel right. Throughout those 3 months, I had strange cravings for meats, fruits, and dairy products. Several weeks later, I managed to give into those cravings and I started feeling normal again. I quickly picked up the weight, and the triglyceride levels also went back up.
Round 2
My second serious attempt at losing weight started right after my father passed away. I became extremely paranoid about my health, and decided to get it done this time. This time I started using Emergen-C and Miracle Greens along with a more balanced diet. This lasted about 5 months during which I lost about 15 pounds and the triglyceride levels did drop. I fell off the wagon. This time around I had followed the South Beach Diet. Personally, I think the diet regimen was probably the only reason why I lost any weight, but I could not stand that I felt tired all the time. It did not matter how much sleep and rest I managed to squeeze into my day, I just never recharged my batteries. If that's what feeling healthy was like, well I'd rather have my burger and eat it too. I gave up, went back to my old habits, only this time I kept in mind some of the South Beach ideas, and I stared feeling better. The pounds started stacking back up.
Final Round
Like I said, six months ago I became very serious about losing the weight. My family kept pushing me not to stop, not to give up. They would not stop telling me that this was a fight for my life. I became determined. This time I was going to do it right. My brother pushed me to use Double X, but, being a skeptic, I resisted, until he just brought me a 31-day supply. I started walking and jogging, mostly walking. I also started taking the supplements as directed and I felt fine my first month. A few days after I ran out of Double X, a familiar feeling started creeping up on me; I started finding myself tired after I woke up. I called my brother over, and together we basically drew up a battle plan. I started on Ocean Essentials Balanced Health and Double X immediately. Two months later, I spread my calorie intake over 5 meals. I cut back my breakfast, lunch and dinner, and added a protein and meal replacement bar between them. Later on I added Bio C Plus and the Simply Nutrilite Antioxidants, and Glucosamine 7 for my knees. More recently, I’ve added Carb Blocker 2 and Glucose Health.
So what's going on now?
I've since stopped drinking coffee, and I don't miss it at all. I was notorious for drinking as much as a pot a day, or multiple triple lattes. Combined with soda, my caffeine intake was massive.
I've also found that I only need about 5-6 hours of sleep a day. I've also cut soda, and am trying to cut sweets (with the exception of Halloween, I am getting there). I've also switched my Omega-3 source. I've started using Ocean Essentials Brain Health
It’s been six months and about 30+ lbs and I feel great. My doctor recently sent me a post card after my blood analysis. It had a checkmark indicating that my blood results were normal, and the comment section said, “Good job. See you in six months.”
So what’s next?
According to my Body Mass Index, I’ve got over 100lbs to lose. I’ll get there. My current body weight is over 14 years in the making, so I know this is going to take some time. My next major goal though, is to be able to run a 5k this summer. I get closer to that goal each month. After the 5k, I plan on building up to a half marathon. That will probably take another 18 months.
So what vitamins do I take daily?
Double X
Bio C Plus
Glucosamine 7
Ocean Essentials Brain Health (Omega-3s)
Simply Nutrilite Antioxidants
XS Energy Drink (Full of complex B-Vitamins)
