TATA launches NANO car - Rs. 1 lakh ex showroom price !
Tata Nano is available for booking between April 9-25, 2009. The forms are already available at various places including TATA showrooms, westside outlets, few banks like sbi, union bank of india (not verified). the booking can also be done online at tata nano's website especially designed for this purpose.
The car is available in 3 variants and range between 1L to 1.5L. The top model is already BSIII standard compliant. All variants have good leg space - infact excellent for a hatchback.
The list of people whose booking will be accepted will be decided by a draw of lots sometime in july / august for initial set of 25000 odd cars. the yearly production number is around 1,00,000 cars for this year and 2.5-3L cars next year onwards.

Welcome NANO, welcome a world where aspirations are achieved by channelizing whole bunch of dedicated souls towards it. TATA Nano scores over comparable cars (or shall we say better than the two wheelers in that range). The car has around 624cc engine and its standard version comes without A/C and power steering, while A/C option given in the the advanced version. Three colours would be available - Red, Yellow, and Silver. Engine is at the rear which reduces overall load of the car in front and therefore, power steering is not really needed (many international car models also use the same funda). The car is expected to come on road in Oct / November 08 while the bookings would probably start by June / July. I am sure there are millions and millions people waiting to drive this little wonder .. and yeah - thanks Mr. TATA - you really make India proud.
