want to know about the next revolution..
Why the Wellness Industry is going to be amazing!!!
What we call the 'health care' business or industry is not really the health business, but actually the 'sickness' business. The medical industry today has very little, if anything, to do with health. In the US $1.4 trillion is spent on medical care, representing 1/7th of the US Economy; is actually concerned with treating the symptoms of illness rather than curing it. If the pharmeceutical industry came out with drugs that 'cured' things, they may put themselves out of business!
It has very little to do with preventing illness or making people feel stronger or healthier.
Are we doomed? No, because a new industry is emergent that has nothing to do with sickness, but is all about creating 'wellness'.
Wellness doesn't treat people who are sick or address illness, although it can have a positive effect. Wellness is for people who are already well and want to stay that way, slow down the aging process, or keep from becoming new customers of the sickness business!
Money spent on wellness is investing in making you stronger, to make you see better, hear better and fight the symptoms of ageing.
10 or 15 years ago it would have been impossible to go into the wellness industry - it didn't exist! So what happened? Technology happened...
Viagra appeared to counter geriatric impotency and was laughed at, but it worked and became an instant $10 Billion business - no wonder we are bombarded by spam e-mails about it!
Add hair growth drugs, cosmetic dentistry, elective plastic surgery, antioxidants and diet system upon diet system...all designed to enhance the quality of our lives and deccelerate the ageing process - they are all results of recent technological advances.
To the $70 Billion Vitamins and Food Supplement Industry, you can add $24 Billion in fitness club memberships. A generation ago who had heard of them? Now these Cathederals of Fitness are emerging everywhere. To this $94 Billion, you also need to consider another $12 Billion paid to Personal Trainers. 20 years ago, nobody would have believed in paying someone to show them how to step on and off a machine, just to stay fit! Today people pay others $12 Billion to do just that.
When you add up the different facets and aspects of wellness, you find that it is already a $300 Billion Industry. This is with the vast majority of people still unaware of the wellness products available, or they don't think them applicable to them. As more and more of the population learn about wellness, this industry is going to explode.
At the rate it is going, just like the PC Industry did 10 years ago, by the end of this decade it is predicted* that the wellness industry will exceed $1 TRILLION - i.e. $1,000,000,000,000. (US Trillion = 1 million million).
*I sourced this material from a fantastic book (The Next Millionaires and the Next Trillion) by Paul Zane Pilzer, a world reknown economist who has advised several US Presidents and is a leading predictor of economic trends.
