The program Certificate in Airport Ground Operations (AGO) is a six month program leading to gound jobs at the airports. This program has been developed in consultation with airport authorities and industry experts. So you know that you’re learning what it really does take to succeed. The modules include the standard core skills of the initial training courses provided by the airlines and other industry verticals.
The Course
A fundamental course which introduces students to the requirements of an Airline Ground Operations (AGO). Learn the basis of what is required to handle ticketing and sales, safety and drill, passenger and baggage handling, announcements and ramp handling. You will learn the workflow processes and protocols of an international airport. It covers the duties and responsibilities of the flight operations officer (dispatcher) and other positions within the Airport Operation Center (AOC). Students pass out with a basic knowledge of commercial aviation dispatch procedures, work rules, local and international regulations, and the terms and language used in the AOC. Students will be engaged in workshop sessions, putting new skills and knowledge to work and measuring and evaluating the results. The course content is broad, giving students an excellent understanding of what is expected from new AOC personnel. Areas of emphasis include: public relations management, safety and security issues, employee organizational structures, financial and accounting strategies, revenue and expense sources, economic impacts of airport operations, airport performance measurement standards, and current trends and issues of direct concern to airport administrators.

Airlines rely on many individuals to perform their job in order to keep them in business. Airline jobs are well paying and offer prestige as well as excitement and fantastic benefits.
Cabin Crew/ Air Hostess/Flight Attendant
The main responsibility of an Air Hostess/ Flight Attendant is to make sure passengers are safe. Next, they must provide great customer service. They serve food and beverages and provide information on customs and immigration at destinations, and are able to deal with emergency situations Flight attendants make up almost 33 percent of the total employees that comprise the aviation workforce. Ground Attendants
The main responsibility of ground attendants is to assist passengers in the terminal. On the ground, check-in staff checks in travelers, their baggage, allocate seats and take care of special arrangements.
Ramp Planner
An airline ramp planner is responsible for knowing the arrival and departure time of each airline’s aircraft at the airport. He or she coordinates a variety of departments that must perform various tasks on the aircraft before it can depart for the next flight.
Operations Agent / Passenger Service Agent
An Airline Operations Agent needs to have good communication skills for receiving and transmitting information from and to pilots, ground crew, and other personnel. The Ops Agent must be able to prioritize a large number of projects and tasks. Passenger service agents have the same responsibilities, but there main focus is on passengers - not aircraft. Their duties include issuing refunds to passengers, computing fares, preparing and selling tickets, collecting charges for excessive baggage, checking baggage and providing travel information.

Learn the scope and nature of the travel industry, IATA geography, World Travel Organizations, ticketing and reservations, Galileo GDS, fare rules and constructs, customer service and careers in the travel industry.
Placements - Travel Tourism
Tourism is the biggest industry in the world employing over 130 million people world-wide and continuing to create new job opportunities al the time. The key to success is sound training with a practical approach the industry demands.
Travel Agents
Travel Agents are sales people who advise potential travelers on the various options available to them for their travel plans. This includes developing, booking and ticketing various travel itineraries which include sea, rail and car as well as air travel. Travel Agents also advise on Accommodation, organize, sightseeing and tours. Travel agents work for corporate and the general public.
Travel Wholesalers produce travel packages for the public that may include airline tickets, transportation, accommodation, sightseeing and tours. Travel consolidators negotiate airfares with airlines and sell them to retail and corporate travel agents.
Tour Guides
A Tour Guide guides visitors through an attraction (for example the Taj Mahal) and delivers commentaries on the attraction and its features. Guides need a good understanding of Ithe country as a tourist destination. Guides act as ambassadors for an attraction as a first point of contact for visitors by giving information & assistance. A guide who knows horse riding can also become a Horse Trek Guide.
Convention / Event Organizer
A Convention Organizer is someone who plans and organizes conferences, Meetings, Exhibitions or Events. Services may include marketing, looking after the budget, organizing a venue, running the event on time and smoothly. This person is responsible for keeping the conference/event on schedule and within the budget.
Adventure Tourism Guide
An Adventure Tourist Guide leads people to outdoor activities such as Canoeing, Kayaking, Diving, Mountaineering, Climbing, Adventures, Caving, Rafting, Cycling, Mountain Biking, Bungee Jumping and Fishing, in a wide variety of locations. Guides in this industry needs to know about safety measures and first aid. The Adventure Tourism industry is growing and there is an increased demand for guides for various adventure activities.
Placements - Hospitality
The main departments of a hotel are Operations, Front Office, House Keeping, Food and Beverages, Accounting, Engineering/ Maintenance, Sales and Security. Each department has a number of positions that one can opt for.
- Operations
Operations Executive is the coordinator and administrator, responsible for day to day provision of services, quality control and customer care. Normally operations are leaded by a General Manager who is assisted by assistant managers for each function.
- Front Office
It is the centre of all activities. Important functions are receiving the guests, making room reservations, handling correspondence and preparing bills and keeping accounts of the guest. The department is headed by a Front Office Manager who supervises and co-ordinates the work. Then there are Assistant Managers, Lobby Executives, Front Office Supervisor, Information Assistant, Receptionist, Bell Captain, Bell Boy, Doorman etc. to perform their assigned roles.
- House Keeping
The work of keeping the hotel, the rooms, the bars, the restaurants etc. clean and making it presentable to the guests and ensuring facilities and comfort to them is handled by this department. Those handling this department are Chief & Executive House Keeper, Floor Supervisor, Room Attendants, Linen Supervisors, etc.
- Food and Beverages Department
This department is the hub of the hotel industry and is responsible for all the food that is prepared and served in the hotel. The main functions performed by the department are - presentation, preparation and service of food and beverages involving kitchen, bar and bakery. Overall in charge of kitchen is known as Chef de Cuisine, the in charge of each section is called Chef de Partie and the one who supervises and coordinates the work of Chef de Partie is known as Sous-Chef. One who cooks food is known as Cook, the person in overall charge of dining hall is called Maitre de hotel, Captain in charge of part of dining hall is known as Chef de Rang, one who serves food is Demi Chef de Rang or Steward. Then there is the restaurant hostess who makes the guests comfortable and deal with the complaints of the guests. Those serving drinks are bartenders.
- Sales & Marketing
This department keeps in touch with travel agents and tour operators as well as other potential corporate clients in order to sell hotel facilities. Advertising and Public Relations is also normally handled by this department.
All programs are held in English and comprise of interactive team building sessions.
The program is structured in 3 phases, as follows:

3 - Advanced Management Skills
The Integration phase is designed to create a team spirit, a common culture and to introduce the specific industry environment of each program offering.
The Fundamental Business Skills phase is designed to provide knowledge, analytical and planning tools, techniques and methodologies with the aim of taking a systematic approach to understanding and solving problems, which are linked to the basic working of the industry verticals.
The Advanced Business Skills phase is designed to contextualize knowledge provided by the fundamental business skills to the aviation, hospitality and travel & tourism industry. The programs have been designed to offer increased flexibility and to focus on the essential contents with respect to the didactic goals.
Throughout the course Exercises and Work Plans are given as case studies and PC simulations. They emphasize the relationships between functional areas, broaden students' perspectives and develop understanding of business concepts;
Candidates willing to enroll in the program should primarily be XII class pass outs or undergraduates with a pleasing personality between the age group of 17 to 24 years.
