IATA INTERNATIONAL GDS FARES AND TICKETING COURES

This is a self-teach computer-based training (CBT) programme that teaches basic and   advanced fare construction principles, as well as GDS entries to price journeys and       issue tickets. It is designed for travel consultants or airline personnel, whose main task is to sell international air transportation on behalf of IATA Member Airlines. Students have up to two years to complete the programme.

You will learn through realistic GDS simulation by choosing from Amadeus.

It is recommended that applicants to this course should have:

1. Basic knowledge of the relevant Global Distribution System, Amadeus
2. Secondary high school diploma
3. Good basic understanding of written English
4. Good mathematics
5. Good understanding of world geography

COURSE CONTENT

1. Introduction to air fares, analyzing itineraries and retrieving fares from a GDS
2. Introduction to the mileage system
3. Practice pricing one way and circle trips
4. Limitations on indirect travel, side trips and surface sectors
5. Backhauls, circle trips, journeys in different classes of services and alternative fare break points
6. Lowest combination's, around-the-world journeys, sales indicators and minimum checks.
7. Currency conversion, taxes and practice ticketing

HOW YOU WILL BENEFITS

Have an excellent understanding of the mileage system pricing and know how to interpret and read all GDS displays relevant to mileage system pricing

Know how to identify and price different journey types (including Round-the World journey and  journeys traveled in different classes)

4. Know how and when to use side trips
5. Know how to add a manual fare to a GDS booking file
6. Be able to use the IATA Fare Formula to correctly price a journey
7. Know how to use GDS to issue tickets for manually- priced reservations
8. Know how to read each field of and ATB ticket
9. Know how to use  the Lowest Combination Factor
10. Be able to construct and read a liner fare construction

QUALIFICTION

Upon successful completion of the final exam, you will earn the IATA International GDS Fares and Ticketing Certificate with world- wide recognition. In combination with the IATA International Travel and Tourism GDS Certificate, this can earn you the IATA International Travel and Tourism GDS Diploma.

EXAMINATION

Examination for the above course consists of 1 paper and takes 3 hours to complete. Examinations are held in March and September of each year in the country of enrolment.

The enrolment is valid for a period of two year and the student has two opportunities to sit the examination within this period. There is an examination fee charged per paper. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. A pass mark of 75% is requires in each paper.
