Duration: 1 year full-time study from September

 The growth of nanotechnology is one of the most exciting developments in science and engineering in recent years. Much of the research in this field is interdisciplinary in nature, drawing expertise from different areas across the life science, physical science and engineering disciplines. This course will cover a broad range of subject areas, from the latest semiconductor fabrication technology, right across to biological and medical applications, with the emphasis throughout on characterisation and control of materials at the nanoscale. The focus will be on both the techniques necessary for scientific investigation at these very small dimensions, and the very latest research developments in this rapidly evolving area.

This course provides students with the knowledge, motivation, and self-learning skills required for continuous professional development during their future careers and provides valuable experience of working on complex projects both as individuals and as team members.

Entry requirements

The normal entry requirement is a First or a Higher Second Class Honours Degree in Engineering or relevant basic science discipline.
