Agra Fort is one of the large fortified residences built at various strategic points of Mughal Empire. It was over five hundred buildings, as mentioned by Abul Fazal in his chronicles. Most of the buildings added later use marble as the chief construction material. At the time of Akbar, River Yamuna touched the fort and thus, a number of ghats were built here. This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. It comprises many fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan, audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas, are very beautiful mosques.
On the Agra Fort sound and light show information is conducted for public to know the history of Mugal kings in Agra.
