Move over Politicians and Celebrities you have competition on twitter and it is none other than the Indian Postal Department.
India Post@PostOfficeIndia, the postal department’s Twitter account, PostOfficeIndia, now has over 1,000 followers. The postal department is serious about its twitter account and has set up a dedicated desk for the Twitter account, who deal with queries ranging from parcel pick-up facilities in remote Indian towns to answering queries on philately for stamp collectors, and telling foreigners at tourist hotspots where the nearest post-office is.
The complaints and suggestions posted by customers are also replied to in real-time, with responses to complaints like “Sure! Will be gr8 if this is sorted out today itself. You have been after it for too long!!’”
Those who invest in postal savings schemes can also get information through regular tweets and updates about these schemes.
The Postal Department has finally woken up to the challenges of the 21st century and is all set to connect to the modern India that remains either skeptical or ignorant of its services.
