Twitter to celebrate its fifth anniversary

Twitter designers, in 2006 in this same week had begun creating this new social networking site. Jack Dorsey had sent in the first tweet on March 21, 2006. It had around 8 employees in 2008 and now has more than 400 employees. The company would celebrate its fifth anniversary with an overwhelming success story.
The company had reached its billionth tweet in the span of more than three years and today there are a billion tweets every week. Only this year the company surpassed its previous year record of 50 million tweets a day and has achieved more than 150 million tweets a day.
The popularity of the site increased tremendously after the site registered more than 400 tweets a second after the demise of Michael Jackson. The site had more than half a million accounts created on March 12, 2011 and has an average of 400 thousand accounts per day in the last month. Even the mobile users have increased more than 1.5 times in the past year.
