Twitter Shortens the links users tweet

Twitter has started to automatically shorten the links that are used in its tweets. This new feature will shorten all the links to 19 characters automatically so that the users can even write a bit about the links they share.
Apparently the users are notified that their links would appear shortened but they can continue to add characters. The tweet passes a t.co link ID and the persons who see your link would know which site they are going to.
The users can still use other analytics like Bit.fly in case they want to. Till now there are reportedly no problems and the links, thought shortened, are still being directed to the intended URL.
Though users feel that this should have been done long time ago, still for the majority it is a welcome and much awaited change.
