Dandeli National Park is a protected area in the Western Ghats, India. The park was created in 2007 by merging with the neighbouring Anshi Nature Reserve as part of a tiger protection program. Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary is a birdwatchers paradise, housing nearly 200 species of birds, most famous for the great hornbill (great Indian hornbill or great pied hornbill) and the Malabar pied hornbill. It is also the only known tiger reserve in India to report frequent sightings of the elusive black panther. It is a famous Tiger Reserve and is now called the Kali Tiger Reserve as river Kali flows through it. With high biodiversity that is most specific to the Western Ghats of India, the attraction is a favourite amongst nature and animal lovers. The park is home to hundreds of species of wild animals, endemic birds, herbs, shrubs, and reptiles. Overlooking the Kali river which flows through it, the remarkable topography of the park includes beautiful deep valleys, dense forests and narrow hills slopes.
