Patient Assessment & Management
Conduct thorough initial and ongoing assessments of ICU patients.
Monitor and manage critically ill patients requiring ventilatory and cardiovascular support.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including blood work, imaging, and ECGs.
Assist in emergency resuscitation and advanced life support procedures.
Adjust treatment plans as needed in consultation with ICU consultants.
2. Medical Procedures & Interventions
Perform essential procedures such as endotracheal intubation, central line placement, arterial line insertion, and lumbar punctures (as per hospital protocols).
Assist in procedures like bronchoscopy, tracheostomy, and dialysis.
Manage fluid and electrolyte balance, hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilation settings.
3. Coordination & Communication
Collaborate with ICU nurses, consultants, and other healthcare professionals.
Provide detailed patient handovers during shift changes.
Communicate effectively with patients ' families regarding their conditions and treatment plans.
4. Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and progress notes.
Ensure adherence to hospital policies, infection control measures, and patient safety protocols.
Participate in audits, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.
5. Education & Training
Attend ICU rounds, case discussions, and continuing medical education (CME) sessions.
Assist in training junior doctors, medical students, and ICU nursing staff.
Stay updated with the latest guidelines in critical care medicine.
