IT Hardware Engineer

1. Hardware Installation and Configuration:

• Install and set up desktops, laptops, printers, servers, network equipment, and peripheral devices.
• Configure BIOS, operating systems, and basic application software as per user requirements.
• Conduct system imaging and cloning using standard tools and procedures.

2. Troubleshooting and Repair:

• Diagnose and resolve hardware issues including motherboard, hard disk, RAM, power supply, and peripheral faults.
• Handle system crashes, boot failures, and compatibility issues.
• Replace or upgrade faulty components, ensuring minimal downtime.

3. Maintenance and Support:

• Perform regular preventive maintenance of computer systems and hardware assets.
• Monitor hardware health (temperature, fan speed, disk status) using diagnostic tools.
• Provide Level 1 and 2 support for hardware-related tickets raised by staff or users.

4. Network and Peripheral Setup:

• Assist in setting up and maintaining LAN/WAN hardware including routers, switches, access points, and cabling.
• Install and configure network printers, scanners, projectors, and AV equipment.
• Support wireless connectivity and troubleshoot IP address or DHCP issues.

5. Inventory and Asset Management:

• Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory including serial numbers, configurations, and locations.
• Track issued assets and update asset management systems.
• Coordinate with vendors for procurement, warranty claims, and AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts).

6. Security and Compliance:

• Ensure secure configuration of hardware to comply with IT security standards.
• Support data backup and recovery processes by configuring hardware-based storage solutions.
• Monitor unauthorized device usage and assist in enforcing IT asset policies.

7. Documentation and Reporting:

• Document troubleshooting steps, repair history, and maintenance logs.
• Create user manuals or setup guides for hardware usage.
• Provide regular reports on hardware uptime, replacements, and procurement requirements.
