Housekeeping Staff - Shahad

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cleaning & Sanitation Duties:

• Sweep, mop, and disinfect floors in patient rooms, waiting areas, corridors, ICUs, wards, and emergency rooms.
• Clean and sanitize furniture, beds, mattresses, and medical equipment as per hospital hygiene protocols.
• Clean and restock washrooms regularly with soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as bed rails, door handles, lift buttons, and stair railings.

2. Waste Management:

• Collect and dispose of biomedical and general waste in separate color-coded bags according to hospital waste management policy.
• Safely handle infectious or contaminated materials using gloves, masks, and PPE kits provided.
• Ensure waste bins are cleaned, disinfected, and properly lined at all times.

3. Room Turnover and Setup:

• Prepare patient rooms before admission by changing linen, cleaning surfaces, and checking overall cleanliness.
• Assist in quick turnover of beds during patient discharge or transfer.
• Follow instructions for isolation rooms or rooms requiring special cleaning procedures.

4. Support in Operation Theatres and ICUs (as trained):

• Assist in sterilizing non-critical areas and surfaces in OT and ICU as per standard operating procedures.
• Handle cleaning materials carefully and ensure proper disposal of mop heads or used wipes.

5. Infection Control:

• Follow hospital s infection prevention protocols strictly.
• Use cleaning agents, disinfectants, and sanitizers appropriately as trained.
• Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as gloves, masks, aprons, and shoe covers at all times during duty.
• Report any spills, biohazard leaks, or accidents immediately to the supervisor.

6. Restocking and Supplies:

• Replenish toilet supplies, bed linens, towels, and cleaning materials when needed.
• Inform the supervisor about low stock or damaged supplies.

7. Patient and Visitor Interaction:

• Behave politely and respectfully with patients and their attendants.
• Do not engage in unnecessary conversation or personal interaction with patients unless instructed.
• Report any patient-related observation (such as a fall, spill, or emergency) to the nurse or ward staff immediately.
