Required Maintenance Supervisor - Chennai

Key Responsibilities:

1. Field Work Planning and Supervision

• Supervise day-to-day farm maintenance tasks including irrigation, fencing, land preparation, pest control, equipment repairs, and water management.
• Plan seasonal farming activities such as sowing, fertilizing, irrigation, and harvesting in coordination with agronomy advisors (if applicable).
• Allocate tasks to farm workers and labor teams based on the daily work schedule and operational requirements.
• Ensure quality control in planting, growing, and harvesting operations to meet production standards.

2. Crop Management and Agricultural Support

• Monitor plant health, soil conditions, and weather patterns to determine the best practices for yield improvement.
• Implement crop rotation, composting, and organic or chemical-based treatment as per guidelines.
• Maintain records of planting dates, irrigation schedules, fertilizer usage, and pest/disease control.
• Coordinate and manage harvesting operations, packaging, and delivery to markets or storage points.

3. Equipment and Infrastructure Maintenance

• Oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of all farm tools, machinery, and irrigation systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues in tractors, water pumps, sprinklers, or power tools used on the farm.
• Schedule regular servicing, repairs, or replacement of faulty equipment.
• Ensure farm structures like greenhouses, sheds, boundaries, and storage units are maintained in good condition.

4. Procurement and Inventory Management

• Identify and procure the required agricultural tools, inputs (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides), and machinery in coordination with the office team.
• Maintain inventory logs for consumables, equipment, and farming tools.
• Work with vendors or suppliers to source quality materials at competitive prices.
• Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid work disruptions.

5. Reporting and Documentation

• Provide regular progress reports on field activities, maintenance status, crop health, and harvest forecasts to the head office or operations team.
• Maintain records of manpower deployment, fuel/equipment usage, repairs conducted, and material procurement.
• Use mobile applications, spreadsheets, or manual registers for data recording as per company practice.
• Share weekly and monthly updates with photographs and key metrics.

6. Labor and Contractor Supervision

• Manage field staff, including temporary and seasonal labor teams, ensuring discipline and productivity.
• Train and guide workers on safety standards, usage of equipment, and farming techniques.
• Coordinate with local labor contractors when additional manpower is needed during peak seasons.
