Pump Operator/Assistant Plant Operator - Concrete/Ready Mix

Responsibilities:

1. Pump Operator Concrete/Ready Mix

A. Equipment Operation:

• Operate truck-mounted or trailer-mounted concrete pumps.
• Set up the pump at job sites, ensuring stability and correct positioning.
• Extend and position the boom or hoses for accurate concrete placement.
• Control the flow and volume of concrete during the pumping process.
• Monitor gauges, controls, and pump performance throughout the job.

B. Site Coordination:

• Communicate with site supervisors, engineers, and concrete truck drivers.
• Follow site-specific instructions for placement of concrete.
• Ensure pump placement does not interfere with other construction activities.
• Use hand signals or radios to direct pump and boom operation if needed.

C. Maintenance and Cleaning:

• Perform pre-operation and post-operation equipment checks.
• Clean pump, pipes, and related equipment after each use to prevent concrete buildup.
• Report any mechanical issues or damage to the maintenance team.
• Refill fuel, lubricants, and other supplies as necessary.

D. Safety Compliance:

• Wear and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Ensure pump operation adheres to safety regulations and job site rules.
• Follow lockout/tagout and emergency shutdown procedures.
• Watch for and avoid hazards like power lines, trenches, or unstable surfaces.

2. Assistant Plant Operator Concrete/Ready Mix

A. Batching and Mixing:

• Assist in preparing concrete mix as per project specifications.
• Help monitor control systems to manage water, cement, aggregates, and admixtures.
• Verify that raw materials are correctly proportioned and mixed.

B. Equipment Monitoring and Support:

• Inspect batching equipment for wear, leaks, or blockages.
• Assist in calibrating scales, conveyors, and mixers.
• Coordinate loading of ready-mix trucks with the dispatch or plant manager.

C. Quality Control Support:

• Help conduct routine sampling and testing of concrete to ensure quality.
• Adjust material quantities under supervision to maintain batch consistency.
• Record batch details and maintain plant operation logs.

D. Plant Maintenance and Housekeeping:

• Clean equipment, work areas, silos, and hoppers regularly.
• Monitor levels of materials (cement, aggregates, water) and report shortages.
• Support the plant operator during repairs or shutdowns.

E. Health & Safety:
