VMC And HMC Operator

Key Responsibilities:

1. Machine Setup and Operation

• Set up and operate VMC and HMC machines as per job specifications.
• Interpret engineering drawings and job orders to determine machine setup and production methods.
• Load raw materials and workpieces into the machine and secure them properly.
• Adjust tool lengths, offsets, and zero positions as required for machining operations.
• Operate machines using control panels (Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, etc.) and verify programs before production.

2. Tooling and Fixture Management

• Select appropriate tools, inserts, and fixtures based on the material and machining requirements.
• Perform tool presetting and calibration to ensure accurate machining.
• Monitor tool wear and change tools as needed during operations to maintain quality.
• Maintain inventory of tools and inform supervisors of any shortages or replacements.

3. Quality Control and Inspection

• Measure machined parts using precision instruments like vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM (if trained).
• Ensure all parts meet the required dimensions and tolerances as per the drawing.
• Document in-process inspections and final quality check results.
• Report any dimensional discrepancies, machine malfunctions, or quality concerns immediately.

4. Production Efficiency

• Achieve daily production targets by optimizing cycle times and minimizing downtime.
• Follow standard machining practices to maximize machine productivity.
• Monitor machine performance and assist maintenance teams with basic troubleshooting.
• Reduce material wastage and ensure efficient use of resources.

5. Maintenance and Safety

• Conduct routine checks and cleaning of machines before and after shifts.
• Ensure proper lubrication and coolant levels are maintained during machining.
• Follow all safety procedures , including wearing PPE, and operating machines within safe limits.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards.

6. Documentation and Reporting

• Fill out job cards, production logs, inspection sheets, and tool usage records accurately.
• Record part numbers, batch information, rework cases, and scrap rates.
• Handover machine status and pending tasks during shift changes.
