Required Fiber Technician - Kolkata

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fiber Splicing & Maintenance

• Perform fiber optic splicing, including fusion and mechanical splicing, for both single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
• Test and validate spliced fibers using OTDR, power meters, and visual fault locators.
• Conduct maintenance and repair of fiber routes, including cable faults, cuts, and connector cleaning.

2. Network Troubleshooting & Fault Resolution

• Respond to service calls and resolve fiber network issues at customer premises, junction boxes, or main distribution frames.
• Identify and diagnose issues in passive optical networks (PON), GPON, FTTH, or backbone networks.
• Log and report all incidents and ensure proper closure of complaints within SLA timelines.

3. Installation & Commissioning

• Support installation of new fiber lines, including last-mile connectivity for homes, offices, and commercial buildings.
• Lay and pull fiber optic cables through ducts, poles, underground, and overhead routes as per design.
• Terminate fibers into enclosures, patch panels, or distribution boxes.

4. Network Upgrade Support

• Assist in fiber network upgrades , expansions, and migrations in coordination with the planning team.
• Replace outdated or damaged components with improved fiber equipment, splitters, and connectors.
• Read and interpret technical diagrams and fiber layout maps to implement upgrades accurately.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of splicing logs, network layouts, fault diagnostics, and repair actions.
• Update the project or maintenance supervisor on daily progress, material usage, and issues faced on site.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and standard operating procedures during fieldwork.
