Required Assistant Merchandiser - Jaipur

Position Summary

The Assistant Merchandiser supports the Merchandiser in planning, selecting, and buying merchandise for the organization. The role involves a mix of administrative duties, data analysis, coordination with suppliers, and liaising with internal departments. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and analytical skills, good commercial awareness, and a keen interest in retail trends and consumer behavior. You will assist in ensuring that products are delivered on time, in the correct quantities, and within budget, while also helping maintain strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandise Planning & Analysis

• Support the Merchandiser in planning product ranges, analyzing previous sales data, and forecasting future trends.
• Monitor weekly sales, stock levels, and markdowns to identify slow movers and bestsellers.
• Assist in preparing seasonal and promotional range plans.
• Track competitor activities and market trends to support category decisions.

Product Selection & Buying

• Help review supplier proposals, product samples, and quotes.
• Attend buying meetings with suppliers or vendors and take detailed notes.
• Coordinate sample deliveries and ensure products meet quality, pricing, and design expectations.
• Assist in evaluating supplier performance in terms of delivery timelines, quality, and reliability.

Inventory & Stock Management

• Update and maintain stock sheets, product master files, and allocation reports.
• Monitor and track inventory across locations (warehouse and stores).
• Liaise with supply chain/logistics to ensure smooth and timely product deliveries.
• Flag stock imbalances, low inventory levels, or delays for immediate action.

Administrative Support

• Handle the preparation and processing of purchase orders (POs), price changes, and product codes in the system.
• Maintain accurate product data in internal systems, including descriptions, sizes, SKUs, and pricing.
• Support promotional planning, product launches, and online merchandising updates.
• Ensure documentation and filing for all merchandising activity is organized and up to date.

Supplier & Vendor Coordination

• Communicate with suppliers regarding product availability, lead times, and order tracking.
• Follow up on product deliveries and resolve issues related to delays, quality, or discrepancies.
• Build and maintain good working relationships with vendors to support smooth operations.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with the marketing, design, supply chain, and finance teams.
• Assist with visual merchandising, store communications, and seasonal merchandising packs (if applicable).
• Help support store teams with product knowledge, availability, and pricing information.
