Job Summary

The Sales Executive at a Berger Paints outlet plays a vital role in assisting walk-in customers, recommending suitable paint products, providing color and technical advice, and completing sales through accurate billing. This role is customer-facing and requires excellent product knowledge, strong communication skills, and a helpful, professional approach. The Sales Executive is responsible for ensuring a smooth and satisfying shopping experience for customers visiting the paint shop. This position is ideal for individuals with retail sales experience, a customer-first attitude, and the ability to explain paint products and services confidently. The Sales Executive reports to the Store Manager or Outlet Supervisor and plays a key role in the daily operations of the shop.

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Handling (In-Shop)

  • Greet and welcome walk-in customers to the Berger Paints outlet.
  • Understand customers painting needs, including surface type, coverage area, color preferences, finish, and budget.
  • Provide personalized product recommendations based on customer requirements.
  • Educate customers on different Berger Paints products, including emulsion, distemper, enamel, primers, and waterproofing solutions.
  • Explain product benefits, color durability, surface preparation steps, and usage instructions clearly and accurately.

2. Product Demonstration and Consultation

  • Show color charts, brochures, and sample panels to help customers visualize final finishes.
  • Use digital tools or software (if available) for virtual color previews.
  • Suggest accessories and complementary items like brushes, rollers, putty, masking tape, etc.
  • Offer guidance on latest color trends, interior/exterior solutions, and eco-friendly paint options.

3. Billing and Cash Handling

  • Generate bills/invoices accurately using point-of-sale (POS) or billing software.
  • Apply correct GST rates and ensure tax-compliant billing as per company and government norms.
  • Accept payments via cash, card, UPI, or other digital modes and issue proper receipts.
  • Ensure daily cash collection is tallied and handed over to the store manager or cashier.

4. Stock Coordination

  • Check stock availability in the system before confirming sales.
  • Communicate with the store manager or warehouse if stock is low or an item is out of stock.
  • Coordinate with backend staff for fetching products, packaging, or loading into customer vehicles.
  • Notify management of fast-moving, slow-moving, or out-of-stock items.

5. Customer Service and Follow-Up

  • Address any customer queries, complaints, or issues related to products or billing promptly.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and encourage repeat purchases.
  • Share contact details or store loyalty information for future follow-up or inquiries.
  • Collect feedback from customers and report back to the store supervisor or area sales manager.

6. Shop Cleanliness and Display Management

  • Maintain clean and organized product display areas.
  • Arrange shelves, color charts, and promotional materials attractively.
  • Replace damaged or expired items from the shelves and maintain neat product placement.
