Required Kitchen Helper - Gurgaon

Job Summary

We are looking for a hardworking, dependable, and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our kitchen operations team. The Kitchen Helper plays a vital role in supporting chefs and cooks by performing basic food preparation tasks, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen hygiene. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen, helping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment. The ideal candidate should be willing to learn, physically capable of handling demanding tasks, and have a positive attitude toward teamwork. No prior experience is required, but a passion for food service and the ability to follow instructions carefully is essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Food Preparation Assistance

• Wash, peel, cut, chop, and slice vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients as directed by the chef.
• Measure and portion food ingredients according to recipes or instructions.
• Assist in basic cooking and food preparation activities under supervision, such as mixing batters or preparing garnishes.
• Unpack and store food deliveries in refrigerators, freezers, and storage areas following food safety protocols.

2. Cleaning and Hygiene

• Wash utensils, pots, pans, dishes, and kitchen tools using dishwashing machines or manually as needed.
• Clean kitchen surfaces, sinks, counters, stoves, and equipment to maintain hygiene and sanitation standards.
• Sweep and mop floors regularly to ensure a clean and hazard-free kitchen area.
• Dispose of kitchen waste, garbage, and recyclables appropriately and maintain cleanliness in the garbage area.
• Ensure the kitchen is clean and organized at all times, especially during and after busy hours.

3. Support Kitchen Operations

• Assist chefs and cooks during meal preparation and service, especially during peak hours.
• Retrieve supplies and ingredients from storage or refrigerators as required.
• Stock and replenish kitchen stations with ingredients, condiments, and other essentials.
• Report any equipment malfunctions, hygiene issues, or supply shortages to the supervisor immediately.
• Follow proper food handling procedures to prevent contamination and spoilage.

4. Health & Safety Compliance

• Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations in accordance with local health and safety standards.
• Use proper protective gear (e.g., gloves, aprons) while handling food and cleaning chemicals.
• Be aware of and follow fire safety and emergency procedures in the kitchen.
• Ensure all work is conducted in a safe, clean, and organized manner.

Required Qualifications and Skills

Education:

• No formal education is required; high school diploma is a plus.
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices is an advantage.

Experience:

• Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, or hospitality setting is preferred but not mandatory.
• On-the-job training will be provided.

Skills:

• Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
• Good communication skills to interact with kitchen team members.
