In addition to drawing, you work with production teams to maximize product performance and review designs for manufacturability DFM. A technological visionary with a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and fabrication methods is the perfect applicant. Responsibilities Drafting & Design: Use AutoCAD and comparable CAD software to produce extremely detailed 2D layouts and 3D models of mechanical parts, assemblies, and tools. Technical Documentation: For each design project, create thorough Bills of Materials BOM, assembly guidelines, and technical data sheets. Design for Manufacturability DFM: Examine designs to make sure they can be produced effectively with current equipment while reducing material waste. GD&T Application: To specify the permitted variation in part feature form and size, apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing symbols to drawings. Control Revision: Handle Engineering Change Take note of the process and update current drawings in response to shop floor comments or customer requests. Support for Prototyping: Work together with the R&D and production teams to construct and evaluate prototypes, adjusting designs in response to the outcomes of actual tests. Skills: Mastery of Software: Proficient in AutoCAD 2D/3D knowledge of SolidWorks, Inventor, or Catia is highly advantageous. Mechanical Knowledge: A firm grasp of material qualities and manufacturing processes such as sheet metal, machining, and casting. Mathematical accuracy: Able to compute angles, weights, and clearances with strong trigonometric and geometrical skills.
