Responsibilities Depending on the type of material, thickness, and welding requirements, choose and configure the proper welding equipment, electrodes, current, voltage, and other parameters. To make sure parts are properly aligned before welding, take exact measurements with callipers, rulers, squares, and other measuring tools. As necessary, make small repairs or rework on welds to satisfy quality requirements. Make that welding tools and equipment are operating properly by doing routine maintenance. Inform the supervisor right away of any problems with the materials or equipment. Skills: practical knowledge of power tools, welding equipment, and measuring devices. strong knowledge of welding methods, metal characteristics, and weld quality requirements.
