Key Responsibilities:

1. Customer Billing and Checkout:

• Greet customers as they approach the billing counter.
• Scan items accurately using barcode scanners or manual entry in the POS system.
• Verify prices, apply discounts or loyalty points, and ensure correct totals.
• Generate and issue itemized bills/receipts to customers.
• Handle cash, credit/debit cards, mobile wallets, UPI, or vouchers as payment methods.

2. Cash and Payment Handling:

• Ensure accurate cash handling during billing and while returning change.
• Maintain a proper opening and closing balance for the cash drawer.
• Tally cash and digital payments at the end of the shift and report discrepancies (if any) to the billing supervisor or store manager.
• Avoid billing errors and follow standard procedures to void incorrect entries.

3. Customer Service:

• Answer billing-related queries politely and clearly.
• Assist customers with price checks, product availability, and promotional offers.
• Resolve minor customer complaints at the billing counter or escalate them when necessary.
• Maintain a calm and friendly demeanor, even during busy hours.

4. System and POS Operations:

• Operate the POS billing software efficiently, including barcode scanning and manual product entry.
• Update the POS system when necessary (for example, adding new items or promotions).
• Ensure billing systems are working properly and report any technical issues to IT support or store management.

5. Counter Maintenance and Hygiene:

• Keep the billing counter clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
• Ensure that all billing-related materials (cash register, stationery, receipt rolls, etc.) are available and functional.
• Follow safety and hygiene standards during product handling and cash transactions.

6. Stock Awareness and Communication:

• Stay informed about current offers, product placements, and new arrivals.
• Communicate with floor staff or the inventory team for stock clarifications or customer requests.
• Assist in identifying slow-moving or frequently returned items based on customer feedback.

7. Record Keeping and Reporting:

• Maintain daily sales and transaction logs.
• Report any billing or product anomalies (such as price mismatches or barcode errors).
• Coordinate with audit teams for billing accuracy and cash verification when required.
