Overview

An Accounts Manager plays a vital role in managing and overseeing the financial health of the organization . The position involves ensuring accurate recording of transactions, preparing financial reports, analyzing data, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements. The Accounts Manager also supervises the finance team, coordinates with auditors, and collaborates with other departments to ensure efficient financial operations. This role requires a professional who is detail-oriented, highly organized, and possesses strong analytical abilities. Beyond technical expertise, an Accounts Manager must demonstrate leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex financial information in a simple manner to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Management

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in compliance with accounting principles.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, profit and loss accounts, and balance sheets.
• Monitor cash flows, accounts payable, and receivable to ensure financial stability.
• Handle bank reconciliations, vendor payments, and employee reimbursements.
• Ensure timely processing of invoices, bills, and payroll.

2. Budgeting and Forecasting

• Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts in consultation with senior management.
• Monitor actual performance against budgets and highlight variances.
• Provide recommendations to optimize costs and improve profitability.
• Support management in strategic planning with financial insights.

3. Compliance and Audit

• Ensure compliance with statutory laws, taxation policies, and financial regulations.
• Prepare necessary documents for audits and coordinate with internal/external auditors.
• File GST, TDS, income tax returns, and other statutory reports within deadlines.
• Stay updated on changes in accounting standards, taxation rules, and financial policies.

4. Team Leadership and Coordination

• Supervise and guide junior accountants, clerks, and finance executives.
• Allocate tasks, review work, and ensure timely completion of deliverables.
• Provide training and mentoring to team members on accounting systems and processes.
• Collaborate with other departments like sales, procurement, HR, and operations for smooth financial management.

5. Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
• Conduct variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and profitability studies.
• Provide insights on financial performance to assist decision-making.
• Support senior management in investor presentations and board meetings.

6. Technology and Process Improvement

• Implement and manage accounting software such as Tally, SAP, QuickBooks, or Oracle.
• Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency.
