Job Overview

An Accountant in a banking environment is responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing accurate reports, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines. The role involves monitoring cash flow, reconciliations, taxation, audits, and accounting operations while supporting the bank s financial health and stability. This position is ideal for individuals who have strong analytical skills, financial acumen, attention to detail, and knowledge of banking regulations . The accountant serves as a critical link between the bank s management, regulators, and auditors by ensuring transparency and accuracy in financial reporting .

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Accounting & Reporting

• Maintain and update accurate financial records for the bank.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on income, expenditure, and overall financial performance.
• Generate profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements .
• Assist management in budget preparation and cost control strategies.

2. Transaction Management

• Monitor daily banking transactions , including deposits, withdrawals, loan disbursements, and repayments.
• Verify and authorize vouchers, invoices, receipts, and payments .
• Ensure proper posting of all transactions in the accounting system.
• Track and reconcile customer accounts, inter-branch transactions, and suspense accounts .

3. Bank Reconciliation & Cash Flow Management

• Conduct daily and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy between books and bank statements.
• Monitor cash inflows and outflows to ensure liquidity and effective fund management.
• Prepare reports on cash positions and provide recommendations for cash optimization.

4. Compliance & Regulatory Reporting

• Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines , banking laws, and financial regulations.
• Prepare reports for statutory authorities such as GST, TDS, Income Tax, and regulatory filings .
• Liaise with auditors, regulatory bodies, and internal compliance teams.
• Implement and monitor internal financial controls to prevent fraud and errors.

5. Loan & Credit Accounting

• Maintain detailed accounting records for loans, advances, and credit facilities .
• Monitor interest calculations, EMI schedules, and payment tracking .
• Ensure proper documentation and reconciliation of non-performing assets (NPAs) .

6. Taxation & Audit Support

• Prepare and file GST, TDS, and income tax returns within prescribed timelines.
• Assist in internal, statutory, and RBI audits by providing required data and reports.
• Ensure adherence to updated taxation norms and maintain accurate tax records.

7. System & Process Management

• Work on banking and accounting software such as Tally, Finacle, SAP, or other ERP systems.
• Recommend and implement process improvements for financial operations.
• Ensure secure, error-free, and efficient digital financial record-keeping.
