Emergency Tool Breakdown Repair: During in-line production emergencies, take the lead in troubleshooting and mechanical restoration of molds. To save press downtime, identify problems such as blocked components, slider jams, tool scoring, or core pin breakages. Precision Machining & Tool Modification: To create or restore exact mold cores, inserts, and ejector components, operate and program tool room equipment such as lathes, surface grinders, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) sparkers, and conventional or CNC milling machines. Hot Runner System Diagnostics: Work with Electrical Maintenance to diagnose, test, and fix complex hot runner systems, including heater cartridge malfunctions, thermocouple open circuits, wiring short circuits, and tip obstructions. Required Skills: Expert Mould Defect & Wear Diagnostics Mastery: Excellent technical ability to determine the exact wear point or damage on the actual tool steel by analyzing a moulded part defect. Advanced Metrology & Blueprint GD&T Reading: The ability to read intricate tool design blueprints with precise Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) metrics and match tool tolerances using dial indicators, micrometers, and verniers. Hot Runner & Sequential Gating Infrastructure Insight: Excellent working knowledge of sequential valve gate air/hydraulic cylinder controls and top hot runner systems.
